The Harmony Ball 2010 Gala:  Una Noche
A Black-tie Latin Extravaganza

On March 27, 2010, the Caritas Foundation is pleased to present this annual gala.  Held at the Royalton Banquet Hall in Woodbridge, this night of fine dining and dancing celebrates Latin music and culture with all the proceeds going to support Caritas’ programs and services.

  2010 Telethon:  Lessons in Life

In April 2010 Caritas will be holding its 16th Annual Telethon, broadcast nationally on TLN Telelatino and CHIN TV.  This year’s theme  reflects Caritas’ ongoing committement to public education and awareness through the launch of our new campaign Lessons in Life.  Stay tuned for showtimes! 

Lessons in Life – a public education initiative

“Lessons in Life” Facts
Through this event Caritas will launch and showcase its prevention and community awareness efforts by introducing a media intensive public education initiative titled Lessons in Life. Inspired by and based on the invaluable wisdom drawn from the Caritas Therapeutic Community, including our graduates, residents and their families, Lessons in Life endeavours to show how every mistake can be an opportunity to learn and can become an important step in the journey of life.

An Educational Initiative
Caritas’ highly successful community outreach programs focus on public education, prevention, and crisis intervention. These activities allow us to promote our programs, enlighten the public about addiction, and identify and help troubled individuals. For the past 20 years education and preventative intervention have been the cornerstone of Caritas’ work. Our outreach program assists schools in educating young people about substance abuse, maladaptive behaviours, and recovery.

Building Healthy Foundations for Success by Redefining Failure
Our goal is to educate young and old, to provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the root of the issues that often lead to self defeating behaviours such as destructive decision making, substance abuse, driving under the influence, violence, and loss of self esteem.

At the Heart of Every Mistake There Lies a Lesson in Life
This educational initiative not only strives to focus on humanizing and lifting the shame that arises from making life mistakes, but also on the value gained from learning from these mistakes through the telling of untold stories. One of the best methods of prevention is to share the stories of our mistakes, the stories of those who have fallen prey to drug abuse and other harmful behaviours
