Mission Statement: To promote awareness through education so as to prevent addiction; and to provide rehabilitation through a therapeutic community, in order to liberate those suffering from dependencies so that they can live independent and responsible lives.
For the first 10 to 15 years, Caritas focused on providing drug and alcohol abusing/addicted people with: the environment, relationships, support, guidance and counselling necessary for them to grow into independent, responsible, functioning members of society. Caritas’ mission, like its catchment area, has broadened to meet the changing needs of society. Its scope includes, in addition to people suffering from addiction, people with mental health issues, behavioural problems, and family issues.
The duration of the program is 25 months and it is offered as a complete experience in 4 phases. Caritas has both urban and rural settings: The main Centre and residences located in North Toronto, and the 90 acre farm and spiritual Centre, located approximately 25 minutes north of the Centre.
