Living an addictive lifestyle is not easy. It’s a place of pain and a place where dreams become nightmares. I lived this nightmare for ten years of my precious life. It’s a heartbreaking journey in total darkness. I came from a place where hurting others emotionally was done continuously so I could satisfy my own needs. My need was to do as much damage to my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual being as I possibly could. In the process of doing so, my family suffered enormously. After ten years, the time came to stop and think. That time came in jail. It was there that I decided that my dreams would never be filled living the life I was living. I asked for help. I prayed for help. I received that help. It has been 20 months since that time and I’ve begun a new journey. Every day of this journey is not dark and cold, it’s light and warm. When I look around now, I don’t look for who I can hurt; I look for who I can help.
The duration of the program is 25 months and it is offered as a complete experience in 4 phases. Caritas has both urban and rural settings: The main Centre and residences located in North Toronto, and the 90 acre farm and spiritual Centre, located approximately 25 minutes north of the Centre.
