Motherly Love

Tom writes:

You became a single mother when I was only two,

You’d put tender, love and care into everything that you’d do!

To try to raise me right, and teach me day from night,

But I saw black when you saw white, and I’d always put up a fight!

I went against everything that you told me,

you’d sit me down and scold me,

But I didn’t realize that it was only because you were trying to show me!

That what I wanted to do would harm me,

You were trying to disarm me,

From the thoughts that I was channeling,

Because to you they were alarming!

But I couldn’t hear the bells, I was cast under evil spells,

I thought all was well.

But I was on the path to hell!

But then I saw a light I never saw before,

You opened up a door and it shined more and more!

I finally saw what you were trying to show me for all of those years,

I gained faith in myself and started facing my fears,

Tasted the salt of my tears, learned to lean on my peers,

Became unselfish and started to share,

and began to love and care!

And I’ve only just begun, to truly see the sun,

The darkness still comes,

but to the light I continue to run!

And if it weren’t for you standing there by my side,

I’d probably run and hide, and wouldn’t be alive!

So from the bottom ofmy heart I thank you for never losing faith,

And believing amongst all the darkness there was a light place!

For me to look within and find my true self,

I never could have done it without all of your help!!!!
