I Made It

March 16, 2009

Robin writes:

Twenty five months I made it to the end. It hasn’t been easy; there were many times I wanted to quit, but something kept bringing me back. Thank God I did, I would have missed out on the experience of a lifetime. There have been many days I dreamt of this moment, and here it is. Leaving will be sad and I’ll miss my family of two years. The support they have given me in my journey means so much to me. I have built so many relationships, and had someone to talk to anytime I needed advice or just pulled out of a slump. With this help I have made so many changes in myself. I love me, I love my life, and I want to experience it all. Sober.

At 50 years old I had no idea I could ever feel this way. I didn’t even know of a better way. So in a few days I will be going home to my family a good man with strong moral values, a sense of community, and a love for others. I am ready to live my life on life’s terms. Now I can have the life I have always dreamed of having, while being a good husband father and grandfather or as my grandson calls me Papa Dude.
